Sport

Students participate in two sessions of physical education weekly.

One session is with the specialist physical education teacher and one session is with their classroom teacher. In addition to these two sessions of physical education, students participate in a range of sporting events including:

Swimming carnival

This event is held in Term 1. All students from Years 3 - 6 participate. There are novelty events to cater for beginner swimmers and non-swimmers.

Cross country

Held during Term 1, the students train in the weeks leading up to the event by gradually increasing their endurance. The cross country is held on a school day around the grounds and all students from Year 3 - 6 are expected to participate in this event. A fun run is organised for students in Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 on a separate day.

Athletics carnival

Held mid-year, all students from Years 3 – 6 participate in the athletics carnival. This annual event is held at Blacktown International Sportspark. A sports activity day is organised for students in Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 on a separate day.

At each of these carnivals, primary students qualify for the opportunity to compete against other schools. We have a proud tradition of students representing our school at zone, diocesan and MacKillop (inter-diocesan) carnivals.

Students are also invited to trial for diocesan sporting teams.
